Camp location: Flywheel Center for Design Innovation
Address: 450 Design Ave Winston Salem, NC 27101
12-15 years old
All day 9-4
From quadcopters to aerial drones to hover boards, we use the latest technology to explore all things flight using the old-school method of learning by doing. Campers will build and program model airplanes, quadcopters, and rockets as they learn engineering and physics principles. They will get a chance to apply these skills as they use FPV (First-Person-View) camera to pilot their crafts along a racing course. (Imagine flying like a super hero is the best way to describe it.) Along with developing their own skills to build model airplanes and rockets, this program gives campers the confidence to continue embracing new, innovative technology in this fast-paced field. There exists a serious pilot shortage in the US and we hope this camp will inspire the next generation of pilots and astronauts.
Our campers will learn about this field and how to protect themselves and their families on the Internet. We learn best by doing, so our campers will setup their own networks using Raspberry Pi computers.( each camper will receive a Raspberry Pi computer ) Students will then divide into teams where they will attempt to “hack each others’ network” and try to prevent from being hacked. This will be an exciting fun camp that could lead to an exciting career. Campers do not need prior experience in cyber security.
